Shopping for Fashion in October

Autumn is a great time of year. It is actually a very colourful time with some beautiful views you can experience with all the leaves changing their colours. I am not sure what kind of weather you see outside of your window today, but here where I live the weather is absolutely amazing and I just cannot wait for an opportunity to leave my home and go for a walk.

Autumn is also a great time for fashion shopping. There are still some warm days ahead and being able to put a dress and a cardigan on it sounds like a great thing and an opportunity you should be willing to pass.

If you are looking for something more unique this time of year Peak Boutique is a good place to go and have a look around. You will find there things you wouldn’t be able to find in places such as F&F or George. Their clothes as well as accessories have that special touch that makes them very different from everything you can find in more popular stores that I mentioned earlier in this post. But only because you might have never heard about Peak Boutique before doesn’t have to mean a bad thing. Try to have a look around and you are guaranteed to find something that will catch your eye.

One thing I usually like to do in online fashion stores is checking their current sale. Luckily for me, peak Boutique knows to deliver in this matter and they have done a tremendous job at making sure that I can grab some clothes and accessories at a lot lower prices than they would normally be. I already spotted some things I would be willing to try out later today.

Overall I enjoyed my experience of shopping in the above-mentioned boutique. I really liked their feature which is a price slider that allows me to adjust a price based on how much I am willing to pay for my clothes. This way I am always going to know that I will not have to pay more than I really have to.

Get Ready For Autumn

Looking at the weather it’s hard to deny that autumn is here. The window for an ‘Indian Summer’ has closed, and we’ve definitely not had one.

It’s not too late to get your wardrobe ready for Autumn. Whether you want to go to town and pick up whole new outfits at a time for the season, or simply collect a couple of well chosen pieces that will give your existing autumnal staples a bit of up to the minute buzz, we’ve got a few suggestions for you today.

Coats

The most important thing you can do is find the right coat to carry you through autumn and into winter. Fortunately, a lot of the fashions that have come off the catwalk in preparation for the new season are focussed on comfort and warmth: fashion in service of function rather than at odds with it. One small label is producing ‘heated coats’ that come with a small chargeable battery back that powers wearable heating technology that not only keeps you warm, but also purports to hold health benefits similar to the heated pads you might use to ease muscle pain.

If you’re not interested in being an early Smart Coat adopter, there are still plenty of options for you this season. Vogue draws attention to a string of different coats apparently inspired by the Queen herself, which as well as offering comfort and style signal the return of the headscarf as an accessory to play with.

Jumpers

If you’re not looking at a cashmere jumper for autumn, you are missing an opportunity. Cashmere is the perfect fabric for a season of mists and mellow fruitfulness and, more prosaically, falling temperatures. It shares insulating properties with more mundane wool, but is also a byword for the softness and comfort you’re looking for this season. It’s been a fashion mainstay for many years, and is unlikely to go anywhere. You know that a well chosen cashmere piece is one to enjoy for many years.

Chinti and Parker are offering a great range of luxury sweaters and leisure wear in cashmere, with bold, inventive designs that ensure you’re keeping up to the mark fashion-wise as well wrapping up against the October chills. If you’re looking for something a little more playful, they also have a whole range of designs based on the iconic Moomin characters of Tove Jansson!

Great community

As the saying goes, “All news is local,” which is why today people are realizing more than ever that a great local news source is a very valuable asset. While many people take in the news of what is going on nationally, (paying special attention to the goings-on in Washington, DC and the White House, as well as in major cities like New York), ultimately, what’s happening in your own neighborhood is crucial. Local news keeps an area connected and vibrant, as people stay up to date on what is happening in their communities and learn how they can be involved with local events.

Today there is certainly no shortage of news outlets for the major stories nationally and internationally. The web offers amazing writing in sites like The Daily Beast, The New York Times and The Washington Post, to name just a few. Yet even with this great wealth of information, local events continue to be of major interest to people. That’s why local newspapers and websites that offer in-depth information and reporting on local events will always be valuable.

Keeping it Local

Even as the Internet has become a force to be reckoned with at every level of our society, it’s still the day-to-day events near home that really impact a person.

The happenings at local schools impact people with young children in their families. Charitable events in LA can have an impact on local news west los angeles, as does crime in an area. Without information on what’s going on, it’s almost impossible to stay involved and to help keep a community vital. Big media outlets don’t cover local events, unless something highly unusual is going on. The good news is that today there are many local media outlets that continue to thrive, even without the major financial backing big media enjoys.

So, next time you read about a great community event or learn about a hazardous situation going on near you, take a moment to thank the reporters and writers who run the local media. Their services benefit you at every level, so give them your support and a tip of the hat for a job well done.
