Vacations are a wonderful time. Whether you plan a whirl wind trip full of sightseeing at popular tourist spots or simply plan to relax on the beach, you want to pack enough clothes to cover any situation while still looking terrific. The trick is to find pieces that can serve double duty. This reduces the amount of clothing you’ll have to bring with you. You also want apparel that still looks great after being folded up in your luggage.
Pack basic items in neutral colors. This could be a black pencil skirt, khaki shorts, and navy blue cotton pants. Pair them with an assortment of tan, white, or ivory tops that include at least one tank, something short sleeved, and one dressier piece. All of these can be mixed and matched for a variety of occasions.
Rather than packing several different coats, think about a three-in-one jacket. These have an inner lining that can be worn as a fleece jacket on chilly evenings. The outer shell can be used alone for rain protection, and when zipped together, you have a heavy coat for cold days.
It would be nice to take your entire closet full of shoes, but this is not practical. You basically need three types of shoes. Sandals are nice on hot days or when heading to the pool or beach. Sneakers will be needed on outings where you will be doing a lot of walking like at an amusement park. Lastly, one pair of dressier shoes is nice to have along for dinner out.
Scarves are lightweight, and they don’t take up much room. Use these to add a pop of color to your outfits. Silver or gold hoop earrings work with any outfit, and sunglasses are a must for sunny locations. You may even want a few pairs. Reasonably priced wholesale sunglasses can be found at your local mass merchandiser or online from sites like Dynasol Eyewear.
Now that you have a pretty good idea of what to take, you can search your closet or go shopping for that perfect outfit. Either way, you can now pack with confidence. You know you’ll have just what you need, and you’ll still look terrific.
